Another Trip report for Six Flags Great Adventure. We got into the park just as usual and headed straight for Skull Mountain. I know this may seem kind of weird, but Skull Mountain gives fantastic morning rides. In the afternoon, light shines right into the building and makes half of the track visible. This takes away the element of the surprise and the lines are also dead in the morning. If you ever have a chance to ride Skull Mountain, ride it back row. It may be a family coaster, but its first drop one of my favorite drops in the back row. You get shot out of your seat and feel continuous air time throughout the drop. Although the rest of the ride can't compare to the drop, its still fun. We hit up the ride another time before heading over to Batman.
Batman is running better than ever and has only become more intense over the years. It packs a huge punch in a relatively small layout. Normally, I don't like Batman as it is almost too intense for my taste. However, this morning it seemed to be running perfectly and provided a great ride. It was literally a walk on for second row, which is pretty rare. Next up was Nitro. Since I had never been front row on it we decided to wait it out. However, TWO trains away from getting on, the crew switched in the extremely infamous C train and had to test it out. We had already waited long enough, but unfortunately the C train ended up being our train. Now I had heard all the bad things other people had said about it, but had never ridden it. Since I had an extremely smooth ride on Nitro last time and didn't think this train would be much different, we decided to go for it. This was an awful mistake. I experienced one of the roughest coaster rides I had ever had. In every valley, the train would start to rattle like mad until it became painfully rough. My entire body was being shaken around throughout the entire ride and I received no air time whatsoever. After getting off, I felt like someone had picked me up and shaker me for a solid 3 minutes straight. I was very disappointed. If you ever ride Nitro and the C train happens to be the one you get by chance, its definitely worth waiting for another train.
After my disappointing ride on Nitro, it was time for me to try my first ever ride on Congo Rapids. Its a very fun ride and great when you have a huge group of people. This ride is great and will almost definitely get you wet. When we tried to go again, however, we found the ride had mysteriously closed. Up next was a trip across the park to Runaway Mine Train, which happened to be closed so it became a trip to Bizarro. Bizarro has to be my all time favorite coaster. Its almost always a walk on and has a perfect amount of intensity mixed with some nice air time and fun special effects. Definitely our best coaster ride of the day. After lunch, we made our way over to El Toro, which had too long of a line for our taste. Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka were the same deal. We decided to then go on the parachute tower. This ride is a very fun, non thrilling ride. We rode it several times in a row before finally moving over to another first timer ride for me; the Twister. Being my first HUSS TopSpin, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I found the whole experience very fun and disorienting. Check it out if you've ridden all the coasters or are bored when in the park. After playing a few rigged games, we rode the Buccanneer, which was the lamest Viking Ship ride I've ever ridden. It has no air time whatsoever. Finally, we headed to Skull Mountain for an afternoon ride. It was no where near as good as our morning ride, but it was still fun. After playing in the arcades for a while, we headed home, having an OK, not fantastic but not terrible, day at the park.
